Kevin is one of twelve artists who gave of their time and talent to contribute to the beauty and community spirit of downtown Marion. The Cardinal Project was spearheaded by Dean Jacob of the Marion Community Foundation and Downtown Marion, Inc., with the unveiling and dedication taking place at Busby Park on September 18, 2021. The 17 sculptures of our state bird commemorate Ohio being the 17th state to enter the union. Each one is designed with a Marion theme. Kevin explains how he came up with his ideas:

“The Cardinal competition was Marion-themed, so I was always fascinated with the pro football being in Larue and how that came about, and the court house is the center piece of Marion, so there is that.”

Kevin also recently took home multiple awards at the Mid Ohio Fine Art Society competition at the Marion Popcorn Festival. His sculptures won 1st place, 2nd place and an honorable mention.

About future projects:

“Shows in the works? I have been kicking around the idea of a pop-up show downtown, but that won't be until next year and the minimum, I will need to do a lot more work to get ready for that. I have changed a couple of paintings at the Brewery, two were sold so I replaced them with a summer- themed paintings, I have two other paintings in the works to change out others. I am currently leaving for Michigan to work on an art piece there for a week, then I am going to start on next year's sculptures for the popcorn festival art competition, and work on paintings for my pop-up show, when I decide on a theme.”

Fortunately for us, there is more to come from Kevin Tackett! 43302.org would like to congratulate Kevin on his accomplishments. We’re grateful that he shares his beautiful works with us and we look forward to the next project.
