“We had a little orchestra, and we appeared on the air (children’s program) and entertained at various church and club functions.” —“The Photos Family: My Case Study”

Pauline Photos, like her cousin, was baptized in Toledo’s Greek Orthodox Church with the name “Paraskevi” after her grandmother. “Paraskevi” means “preparedness”. It is also the name of a Christian saint known as Saint Paraskevi or Saint Friday.

The Skevos and the Photos families:

Nicholas and Magdi Skevos with Stavroula and Thomas Photos (back row). Standing in front of. them are the three Skevos children (Andreas, Alex, and Patty) with the seven Photos children.

The three sisters: Connie, Pauline, and Kathryn (Kiki)

In her case study, Pauline writes that her third-grade teacher at Whittier Elementary, Mrs. Stephens, taught several of her siblings and remained a good friend of the Photos family.

Pictured is Mrs. Stephens and another third-grade class, 20 to 25 years after she taught my father and his sisters and brothers. And yes, there is one more Photos. That’s me, Tom Photos, second row from the top, third in from the right.

Michael and Pauline Kambour

Through the years, the couple sent relatives and friends cards on holidays and special occasions. The card always consisted of a photo taken by Uncle Mike and Theia Paul's inscription. A wonderful tradition.
